Maternity and Newborn Sessions: Before and AFter

I always love looking at other photographer’s before and afters. The way an artist edits a photograph is completely unique to that individual photographer, and editing can really bring out the emotion and beauty in an image.
I thought I’d share a few before and afters from some maternity and newborn sessions with you today!

This session was a dream, the sea was moody, the clouds were just enough to make for a dramatic sunset and sky, and this mama was glowing. We used the wind to our advantage, as we must here on the coast of Rhode Island, and the results were just incredible.
Ever wonder why it takes your photographer a couple of weeks to get your photos back? A lot of work goes into making these images look amazing! Making sure things are right in camera is work in itself, but bringing those colors to life all happens in the editing.

For this session, we were hunting for some gorgeous fall color. While it’s pretty in the raw image, those leaves really pop in the edited photo.

Sometimes the edits don’t feel as dramatic, but making each image beautiful is part of my creative process. This image of a dad and his precious newborn daughter didn’t require as much editing, but I still go through every image and adjust the highlights, shadows, contrast and make sure that the colors are looking the best.
When I’m going through your galleries, selecting the images I’m going to deliver, working on them, making sure that the photos are full of emotion, and memories for your wildly lovely family, I’m almost always grinning from ear to ear. I’m thrilled to have captured these precious moments in time for your family. The moments when you’re celebrating time spent together, becoming parents, your child becoming an older sibling, all the changes, and regular, wildly lovely everyday beauty.
